Kuranda is a cute little town up in the mountains outside of Cairns, Queensland. It’s a quaint little free-spirit type of place and probably one of the top tourist attractions in the area.
We took the Skyrail (a cable car) up to Kuranda and Kuranda Scenic Railway (cool old train) down the mountain.
This is an account of my day trip in pictures and videos…
We started the day with a 45 minute bus ride from Port Douglas down to the Skyrail terminal just outside of Cairns.
Once we arrived to the terminal we just had to wait in a short line to get our tickets and then we were on our way! About to zoom off up the cableway. 😎💨 It really does take off quick!
Johanna and I had been planning this trip for a couple months. We both love trains and stuff like that. Spoiler alert: there’s a train ride later in the day 😜
Looking back towards Cairns and the terminal.
Afraid of heights? Don’t look down! We upgraded to glass-bottom gondolas. It was worth the $12 mostly because you get to hop to the front of the line and you have a better chance of having a gondola to yourself.
Glad we aren’t hiking!
Coming into the first terminal where we take a quick walk through the rainforest.
A lovely winding path.
Beautiful view but first, let me take a selfie!
We hopped back into a cable car and spotted the first views of Barron Falls.
A little time-lapse video for your viewing pleasure.
We got to hop off at Barron Falls and walk over to some outlooks. Massive, spectacular, beautiful!
And after another quick gondola ride, we were arriving to Kuranda!
To be continued…
