Vivid Sydney

“Vivid Sydney is a unique annual event of light, music and ideas.” – http://www.vivdsydney.com

I’m lucky to be in Sydney during Vivid Sydney because it only runs for about three weeks each year.  I’m sure you’ve probably seen images of the Opera House lit up at night with spectacular lights and those pictures come from this event.  I was pleasantly surprised to find this event running while I’m in town.  They have exhibits throughout downtown Sydney from the Opera House to Darling Harbour/Cockle Bay – a significant area of town – from 6pm to midnight every night.   I loved it but I don’t have much else to say about it except that it is super cool and I wish we had an event like this at home in Washington, D.C.

These are all larger than life exhibits.  They are huge.  I’ll let the pictures and videos speak for themselves…

Vivid Sydney looks like a lot of fun! It will be chilly in Australia though, Rob can tell you until when. Maybe September? The Taronga Zoo across the harbor is supposed to be good but I didn’t have time to visit. You can take a harbor ferry across to it. Love the harbor ferries!
